Happy Sunday everyone! I don't sit down and reflect very often. Sometimes life just gets away with me as I descend into absolute chaos and I need to take a step back to realise how lucky I am to have all the things- whether tangible or intangible- and people that I have around me. This week has been absolutely crazy, I started my exams, finished my part-time job and had the scariest interview for an apprenticeship and now I have to be a real proper working adult and that terrifies me, only slightly less than the thought of uni debts did before. So I thought that I'd do something a bit different today, and combine some of the ways that I deal with stress with an overview of my week and what I have been grateful for.
I try to write down one thing that I am grateful for everyday and this week it has really been my family and boyfriend supporting me through one of the most stressful weeks ever. They helped me prepare my presentation for my interview, Mum has been making me an endless amount of green tea to get me through revision. She even bought me special fudge green teas and stress control deoderant which really made me laugh. Then some days, I am have just been grateful for coming home and putting on my joggers and going to bed super early or watching Gossip Girl.
Something that I've found has really calmed me down this week has been yoga. I'm no expert yogi. I am sure that I would struggle to get through even a beginner class. But I have been doing short Youtube yoga sessions. It means that I can take it at my own pace and don't need to leave the comfort of my house which is great considering that I don't have much time right now. I've tried a few channels and I remember from before that the Ekhart Yoga 'Morning Flow Video' was a good one to do quickly in the morning. But this week, I have discovered Yoga with Adrienne which has loads of great videos on the channel. She is really chilled and quite funny too, I've so far done '5 minute Stress Relief' and 'Yoga for Stress Relief' -you can see the ongoing theme here.. But I've linked all those videos above so if you think that sort of thing might help chill you out too then go and give it a go.
This week, reading has also really helped chill me out. I'm currently reading 'If I stay' by Gayle Forman, which although sad is quite thought provoking and a fairly easy read just to distract yourself from everyday stresses. The character Mia's situation really helps put my life into perspective anyway - you'll see what I mean if you read it...
Now I know this is getting quite wordy now so I will stop. I know that this post is a bit different from my usual but I just think that sometimes it's important to take a step back and realise that it is important to look after yourself and to appreciate the things that are intangible as well. So there are a few things that I do to try and de-stress as well as some things that I have been greatful for this week.
I know this post is a bit different so please comment to let me know your thoughts and if you'd like any more posts like this one. Remember that you can follow me on Bloglovin, Twitter and Instagram at the links below.
